Dmitry Ostrovsky, MD is a board certified adult psychiatrist with experience and interest in treating a diverse range of psychiatric conditions and mental health issues. He is involved in resident physician education as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; where he also works as an attending psychiatrist in the psychiatric emergency room.
Dr. Ostrovsky specializes in interventional psychiatry, as well as the psychopharmacological treatment of anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. He treats all mental health conditions and has specialized training in the psychotherapeutic treatment of Narcissistic and Borderline Personality disorders. He also has extensive experience treating college students from Columbia University, Fordham University, and NYU; as well as treating members of the LGBTQ+ communities and executives from a wide range of industries.
Dr. Ostrovsky was previously part of the Clinical and Research Staff at Brooklyn Minds Psychiatry where he had extensive experience with interventional psychiatry (Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Ketamine treatment) and was trained in the MBT therapy model. Dr. Ostrovsky is also experienced in CBT, DBT, Existential, and Psychodynamic psychotherapy.
He received his work experience in the treatment of mental health issues affecting students and young professionals at The Fordham University Counseling Center on the Lincoln Center Campus, where he worked with many Law and Business graduate students. Prior to his medical training he received a BA in Economics from Rutgers University Honors College (summa cum laude) with a focus on behavioral economics.
He earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark (formerly The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) and completed his Residency Training in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside. In addition, he received training on the subject of LGBTQ+ mental health at Callen Lorde and is a proud member of Manhattan Alternative.
Dr. Ostrovsky focuses treatment along the four major domains of mental health (Biological, Psychological, Sociological, Existential) and enjoys engaging in therapy with his patients as well as medication management. He is a strong believer in taking a wholistic view of mental health and offers bespoke treatment plans, tailored to the needs and preferences of each patient. He believes in conservative medication management and also offers de-prescribing services (when appropriate).
